Commission hears appointment timeline and bylaw clarification; tentatively schedules fall retreat

Deputy City Attorney Simone Black reviewed the commission bylaws during a discussion of vacancies: she noted she had reviewed the 2018 bylaws and the 2025 bylaws as amended and said the rules require a minimum of five members and allow no more than 11. She explained that quorum is defined as a majority of voting members serving on the commission and reiterated that falling below the minimum membership affects the commission’s ability to legally meet and take votes.
Under new business, commissioners discussed scheduling a retreat to visit Bush Creek and proposed late-September to early-October dates. Commissioners tentatively agreed to consider October 7 or October 8 for a two-hour site session (4–6 p.m.) and planned to confirm dates at the next meeting; they also considered reserve dates in case of rain.
Procedural business included a motion to approve the May meeting minutes (with an amendment to add Commissioner Amber Teigen’s attendance) that was moved, seconded and passed without opposition. The meeting adjourned at 12:57 p.m.
