The facilities presenter said available open areas at the middle school total roughly 2,900 sq ft in one zone and another 2,300 sq ft in a second zone, offering room for multiple features.
Discussion touched on funding options. The student and family indicated willingness to pursue grants; staff said the district does not currently have a dedicated grant writer and will seek outside grant capacity or partnerships with local businesses. Board members suggested engaging city parks staff and local businesses for cost‑sharing or donated features.
Staff agreed to return to the board with a more detailed footprint and cost estimates at the September meeting; installation timing depends on chosen features and site work schedules. The board gave staff direction to continue planning with the family and vendors and to explore grant and local funding options.
