Conservation Commission hears updates on athletic fields, lake levels, OSRP and osprey platforms

At its Jan. 22 meeting the Sharon Conservation Commission heard a series of informational updates and discussed several nonbinding items.
LMAC Update: Brad McKeen reported LMAC will present its Watershed Based Plan to the Planning Board and Board of Health in February and pursue a CPC grant; potential collaboration with the Historical Commission on flume-house maintenance and signage was discussed. The LMAC plan covers a 25-year horizon and anticipates maintenance needs for the flume house.
Athletic Fields and Municipal Land Transfers: Subcommittees for the Athletic Field Working Group are meeting and reconvening Jan. 27; the full group is scheduled to brief the Select Board on Feb. 10. Commissioners discussed potential field sites, including a school-department parcel near Deborah Sampson Athletic Fields and a triangular parcel near Wells #2 and #3. Town counsel is reviewing ATM warrant language for proposed municipal transfers of 71R and 51R Mansfield St.
Lake and conservation updates: Staff reported the lake level remained at 9.5 after releasing 2–3 cubic feet per minute. Conservation Administrator Josh Philibert shared photos of a beaver lodge and noted "the newly installed Osprey Next Platforms thanks to Ashika Reddy and Eversource." Philibert said he would provide Eversource contact information to Commissioner Geller.
OSRP and minutes: The final Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) was approved and will be posted online with print copies at the library. The commission approved the Jan. 8 meeting minutes (vote 4–0–1).
A homeowner’s application to enlarge a garage and add an accessory dwelling unit at 7 Tory Treasure Road was discussed; commissioners advised further engineering review and encouraged the applicant to return with revised plans. The commission adjourned at 9:10 p.m.
