A new affordable housing community for seniors, South Point Senior, opens this week in Greenville County with 91 one- and two-bedroom apartments targeted to very low-income seniors, Greenville Housing Fund representatives said during public comment.
Josh Good of Greenville Housing Fund described the property as serving households at income levels as low as 20% of area median income (about $14,880) and said rents will start at approximately $425 for qualifying residents. Good credited the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority for a critical funding contribution that helped make the deal possible and invited council members to a grand-opening ceremony on June 25.
Good framed the development as an example of the county's investments producing tangible housing outcomes for vulnerable seniors and urged continued budget support for affordable housing programs.
