Sheriff's Office K‑9 Watson introduced at Yamhill County meeting; nonprofit partners donating training

Before public comment the Yamhill County Board heard a brief demonstration and introduction of Watson, a goldendoodle being raised to work with the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office.
Darren Campbell of Working Dogs of Oregon said Watson is being raised and trained for law‑enforcement therapy work, to assist deputies, victims and witnesses, and to serve as a community outreach resource at public events. ‘‘The Sheriff's Office purchased Watson. The Sheriff's Office is paying for his veterinary care. And we're donating all the training and all the raising and his equipment,’’ Campbell said, describing the arrangement as a partnership that minimizes county cost while bringing the service to the community.
Sheriff’s staff and commissioners posed light‑hearted questions about handler Will, training details and community events; commissioners invited the sheriff and Watson for photos and public appearances. No formal action was associated with the demonstration.
