Farmingdale appoints new fire commissioner, approves equipment and vehicle purchases

The Farmingdale Board of Trustees unanimously approved several personnel and capital items at its Nov. 21 work session. Deputy Mayor William Barrett moved and Trustee Cheryl Parisi seconded the appointment of Michael DiBartolo as Commissioner of the Farmingdale Fire Department to fill the unexpired term of Commissioner Robert Lopez, who resigned (Resolution #2023-11-15).
The board awarded a contract to Speedway Concrete Construction Corp. to install generator and gas-header concrete pads, bollards and electrical trenching for connection to the switch gear in the amount of $23,885 (Resolution #2023-11-13). Officials said the generator installation location change saved more than $55,000 in construction costs on water-related work.
Trustee Cheryl Parisi moved and Trustee Walter Priestley seconded purchase approvals for two municipal vehicles: a 2023 Dodge Ram for the police chief (lease/purchase, $45,612.06; Resolution #2023-11-16) and a 2023 Dodge Ram for the highway foreman (lease/purchase, $66,568.91; Resolution #2023-11-17). The board also approved an amendment to Huntington Power Equipment Purchase Order #551343 to cover increased material costs for a gas header for an additional $6,183 (Resolution #2023-11-18). All motions passed unanimously.
The board moved to Executive Session later in the evening (Resolution #2023-11-19) and reconvened before adjourning at 9:20 p.m. (Resolution #2023-11-20).
