Iron County approves 10-year extension of Brian Head CRA tax increment agreement

Iron County commissioners on May 26 approved Resolution 2026-3, authorizing an interlocal agreement between Iron County and the Brian Head Community Development and Renewal Agency to extend the Village Core Community Development Project Area for ten years.
Bret Howser, Brian Head Town Manager, and Adam Long of the Brian Head CRA told the commission the interlocal agreement conforms with the Interlocal Cooperation Act (Title 11, Chapter 13, Utah Code) and would allow the town’s redevelopment agency to retain a portion of tax increment from the project area. Under the agreement the town would receive 30% of the taxing entity’s share of the tax increment from the project area for the extended period.
Commissioner Michael Bleak moved to approve Resolution 2026-3; Chair Kenneth Robinson seconded. Vote was recorded as Bleak, Aye; Paul Cozzens, Absent; Robinson, Aye. The resolution takes effect upon adoption and will be filed with county records as required by statute.
