The Chair said the committee has given "a lot of leeway" but needs to "continue to see progress," noting that ordinance staff (Scott and Gary) will monitor the site. Dean, who was introduced to the committee to provide an update, said he was "in the process of getting the unplated vehicles towed off and repaired so I can liquidate them," and described equipment and health constraints that have slowed removal work.
Committee members acknowledged the resident's health and financial challenges but emphasized fairness to neighbors. A member suggested enlisting local volunteers, noting "Columbia City Church, the Nazarene has a youth group that are always looking for service projects" and recommending outreach to the high school for help.
The committee prioritized tasks: grass and weeds and removal of junk piles are the immediate, low-hanging items to be completed within two weeks; larger structural repairs and removal of heavy metal were identified as follow-ups. The Chair warned that if the committee sees no progress at the follow-up, stronger enforcement steps could follow.
