Chester parks department unveils summer food, pool opening and youth programs

Crystal, a parks and recreation staff member, outlined the city’s summer offerings at the June 10 council meeting, urging residents to register online or at City Hall.
The summer food program is open for registration and will serve lunch at five Chester locations at 11:00 a.m. each service day. Memorial Park Pool opens June 20; the weekend will be free for residents, membership applications will be available that day, the presenter said, and the season rates mirror prior years: a family season pass for a family of five is $100, daily adult admission is $10 and a child rate (under 18) is $5.
Recreation offerings include three summer movie nights (in partnership with Team Strive and the Chester chaplain’s department), a Beauty and Business camp (a two-week program for children ages 6–12 partnering with Grow and Flow), an 8-week free boxing program for ages 6–18 (partnering with Reach One Teach One and Uma Fight Lab) and a double-dutch program beginning July 1 at Memorial Park open to youth and adults. Staff urged residents to download the Chester City app and follow social media for details and registration links.
Councilors thanked the presenter and encouraged community turnout. Staff said some partner slots are limited and residents should register early.
