The Town of Charlton Recreation Commission on July 8 reorganized its membership and completed several routine administrative actions.
At the start of the meeting the presiding official opened the session and members moved to confirm leadership. A commissioner moved to appoint Ross as chair and the commission approved the nomination by voice vote. The group also nominated and approved Paty Ridle as vice chair.
The commission then approved the minutes from its May 19, 2026 meeting; the minutes from that meeting had shown only two members present. Members also authorized Economy Irrigation of Auburn to perform repairs on the Allen and Little League field irrigation systems, approving spending "up to $2,500" and directing that the funds come from the Amazon-designated account. The commission discussed that the systems had been out of service for roughly four years and that the estimate was based on a prior troubleshooting visit.
As an administrative convenience, members approved a motion allowing executive assistant Lorine Gilbert to sign invoice vouchers after those vouchers are approved by the commissioners at the monthly meeting. Commissioners said this aligns the recreation commission with other town departments and should streamline processing.
Finally, the commission approved three June invoices from Slims totaling $660.
The motions discussed during the meeting were passed by voice vote; specific tallies were not recorded in the meeting transcript. The commission set its next meeting for July 20 at 6 p.m. and adjourned at about 6:44 p.m.
