Board members ask for review after planning‑board discussion of temporary LNG vaporization site

Donigan said the facility would be used seasonally (November–April) to meet peak demand and that planning‑board materials did not specify expected decibel levels.
"The representatives for National Grid weren't able to say what the decibels would be," Donigan said, and noted a prior temporary site at 550 King Street that the health department apparently had not been aware of. The board agreed to add the LNG proposal to its next agenda for discussion and to research whether the board has regulatory oversight for noise or odor impacts related to vaporization operations. Francis said the issue may involve state agencies and legal review, and he will follow up.
Members noted a planning‑board public hearing on the proposal set for July 9 and asked staff to prepare background on noise and nuisance authorities the board can assert. The item will be added to the board's next meeting agenda for additional review.
