Commission flags Maynard Field safety, weighs lights and volunteer repairs

Commissioners discussed creating a prioritized wish list of capital improvements — including lights, trimming overgrown shrubbery at the Maynard entrance, and sealing picnic/ticket tables — and suggested passing those ideas to the master-plan committee.
Multiple commissioners said community members have offered in-kind help: football and cheer volunteers could provide labor and some contractors have pledged donated materials; Paragon Power Washing (owner Dave Campbell) has donated power-washing in recent years. The chair said she would ask the football and cheer board president to submit a formal written request and budget items the commission can prioritize.
On the immediate safety concern at Maynard, commissioners asked staff to get an on-site assessment (Andrew or town staff) and suggested the finance committee could consider using Amazon-designated recreation funds or other sources if an urgent repair is needed. The commission also noted Jason White previously built picnic tables that could be sealed and preserved with a coat of urethane.
Next steps: the commission asked the football and cheer leadership to prepare a formal wish list and cost estimates and asked staff to consult Andrew (accounting/town finance) on whether designated funds could be redirected to urgent repairs.
