Norwood trustees approve mill-levy resolutions, liquor-license renewal and routine business

The Norwood Town Board approved a set of routine fiscal and administrative items during its Jan. 14 meeting, including corrected mill-levy paperwork, a liquor-license renewal and resolutions governing public notices.
Staff explained that the certificate of mill levies sent to the county had a correct dollar amount but an incorrect mill decimal; Sarah (staff) said the correction does not change the budget and requested reapproval of the certificate. Trustees moved and approved the amended certificate of mill levies and then adopted Resolution No. 0114Series2026 to set the town’s mill levy.
The board also considered a retail liquor-license renewal for The Divide; after the clerk confirmed the application was in order, trustees moved to approve the renewal. Trustees approved a separate resolution designating official posting locations for ordinances and public meetings (online, town-hall and the post office).
Trustees adopted the 2026 State of the Town and voted to give staff authority to publish press releases and post statements on the town website and social media (staff will distribute drafts to trustees for review and allow a 24-hour window to flag concerns). Liza Tanguy said the State of the Town draft was “succinct and thorough.”
Votes on the routine items were unanimous among the trustees present; staff noted these steps are procedural prerequisites for budgeting, public notice, and other administrative functions.
