Putnam County Port Authority reports completed dock design and pursuit of $12.6M in grant funding

The Putnam County Port Authority told commissioners June 9 that design work for a bulkhead and dock reconstruction project is complete and that staff will soon solicit construction bids.
In a quarterly update, Mr. Suggs reported that staff resubmitted a Port Infrastructure Development Grant application for $10 million and is seeking roughly $2.6 million through the Florida Seaport Transportation Economic Development (FSTED) program. He said FDOT completed its annual inspection and has been "instrumental" in supporting port funding, and he noted that Mr. Sullivan (port manager) has been appointed to statewide port council and bylaws teams that could help identify future funding and participation opportunities.
Suggs said the completed design will allow the port to move to the bidding and construction phase when grant awards and local match are aligned. The presentation included recognition of staff and appreciation for county support.
No public comment was offered during the Port Authority agenda item at this meeting; staff will return to the board as grant processes advance and bids are prepared.
