Michelle said the program — a two‑year grant opportunity that opened May 28 — could provide up to $50,000 in funding and that the district could propose an interdisciplinary initiative that folded in mock trial, DECA, Future Farmers, a CAD/CAM club and other student organizations. "We can not only bring in Mock Trial, we can bring in DECA, Future Farmers Agricultural Club, Big Buddy, Student Lighthouse, CAD and CAM Club, and many others," Michelle said, and offered to assist with application work and to provide copies of her outline for board review.
Administration said the proposal would be scanned and distributed to the board for review. The superintendent and trustees noted the grant timeline and whether award dates would align with project needs.
In legislative news during the superintendent report, Daffany told trustees the House had passed bill 1814 restricting student use of cell phones during the school day; she noted uncertainty about implementation timing and a possible push from 2026–27 to 2027–28 for enforcement.
Board members thanked the superintendent and the high‑school staff for a well‑run graduation and asked administration to follow up on Michelle's proposal by providing the board with the materials she submitted.
