Administrators reported districtwide math proficiency rose about 14% from the prior year, ELA rose about 6%, and science rose about 16%, based on preliminary, embargoed results on the district testing portal. The board was told districtwide ELA proficiency currently stands around 64% compared with a preliminary state average of about 54% for the tested grades; those figures are subject to final verification by the state.
School staff credited a deliberate "assessment culture" shift: grade-level and vertical teams met regularly to align expectations and assessments, administrators used targeted interventions and in-class incentives, and building-level initiatives encouraged student participation. At the high school, administrators said they increased student buy-in by relating exams to college, career and trade assessments and used selective incentives (for example, exemption from a final exam for students meeting proficiency thresholds).
Administrators noted the district was selected for desktop monitoring by the state and that documentation will be submitted by June 30. They said preliminary figures are encouraging but emphasized these are not final until the state completes its validation and embargoed-data process.
Board members congratulated staff on the early results and asked the administration to present final audited data in a fall report with graphs and grade-level breakdowns.
