Tam Mansari of Trinity County Health and Human Services read the proclamation to the board and urged residents and institutions to watch for signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation and isolation affecting older and dependent adults. Mansari said Adult Protective Services served 220 elders and dependent adults in the past year and reiterated the agency's partnerships with law enforcement, behavioral health, tribal partners and local care providers.
Board members thanked the Adult Protective Services team and emphasized listening to older adults, supporting caregivers and increasing community vigilance. A motion to adopt the proclamation was made and approved by roll call.
The proclamation asks residents, agencies and financial institutions to report suspected elder abuse and encourages community actions such as checking on neighbors, supporting caregivers and reducing isolation. The board said the recognition signals Trinity County's commitment to protecting vulnerable older adults and promoting dignity and safety.
