Council approves minutes, pays June and July bills; notes annual firehall payment

The city council approved its minutes from June 18 and voted to pay two sets of bills covering the end of the prior fiscal year and the start of fiscal 2024–25.
A motion to approve the June 18 minutes was moved and seconded; the chair called for a vote and the minutes were approved with no opposition. Council then reviewed two sets of bills — one to close out the previous fiscal year and another to open the new fiscal year — and voted to pay both sets.
Staff (S3) noted that the annual firehall loan payment of about $13,600 will be paid by the city and that the county will be invoiced for roughly half. S3 said about $82,000 remains on the loan prior to the current payment. Staff also indicated the council will need budget amendments at fiscal-year end to account for incoming grant dollars and other adjustments.
No ordinances or budget adoptions were finalized at the meeting; council members were briefed on the budget timeline and told to expect more substantive budget discussions in late August and early September.
