He also described ongoing work to produce a course catalog and clearer programs of study so parents can see recommended classes (for example, courses expected for collegebound pathways or for career pathways such as welding).
Board discussion focused on practical limits in a small district: the need to balance student-driven requests with available certified teachers, the difficulty of building a master schedule in a compressed timeframe, parent engagement challenges with Weeus/Weeas (digital planning systems), and the value of producing a printed course-request sheet or a course catalog to assist families. One board member noted the district has been working on a course catalog and a five-year planning start in eighth grade to support career exploration during advisory periods.
The board also noted new Calhoun Gilmer Career Center course offerings (robotics and power equipment systems) and recent CTE instructor hires that may expand in-district options. Mr. Fox and other administrators said they will continue refining the schedule and course-catalog materials over the summer and aim to align PEP/parent communications so course requests better match what the district can provide.
