Board appoints Wendi Torell to Fire Protection Committee; director proposes ad hoc for fire revenue measure

At the start of Regular Business the Cambria Community Services District Board appointed Wendi Torell to fill a vacancy on the Fire Protection Committee and discussed next steps for evaluating fire department needs.
General Manager Matthew McElhenie introduced the appointment item and Director Tom Gray said he was pleased to recommend Wendi Torell for the committee. After brief discussion, Director Gray moved to appoint Torell and Vice President Karen Dean seconded; the motion passed.
Separately, during Future Agenda Items Director Gray requested the formation of an ad hoc committee of two board members to review the Cambria Fire Department’s needs, priorities, and resources and to develop a reasonable, effective proposal for a revenue-raising measure. Vice President Karen Dean also noted a Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve request to continue working with staff on budgeting for the Ranch Management Plan. No pieces of the meeting record indicate that the board finalized membership of the requested ad hoc; the request was entered as a future agenda item for follow-up.
