Phase‑two fieldhouse drawings were revised with coach input; staff expect renderings in August for public review with boosters, athletes and coaches. Preschool renovation drawings were discussed and a code official advised that mixed‑use occupancy removes a prior ceiling fire‑retardancy requirement, supporting an on‑time opening and temporary relocation of the boardroom during construction.
Staff reported coordination with Senator Kitt’s office and said the district appears eligible for a $50,000 grant to support press‑box renovation or replacement; details must be finalized by the end of the week and selection depends on grandstand structural capacity.
Separately, staff presented a preliminary proposal developed with environmental consultants to shut down most district buildings for the summer (keeping Hopewell open for summer programming) to reduce utility costs. The estimate showed about $177,000 in savings before adjustments; staff warned of conditions needed to protect building assets (maintain humidity at <60%, periodic heating or boiler activation, humidity sensors, and protocols for gym floor protection) and said further vendor and technical review is required before any board decision.
The committee also noted routine safety‑related maintenance and plans to request an executive session at the next meeting to finalize the required Act 44 confidential safety report for state submission by June 30.
