Bradley County Commission adopts corrected FY2025–26 appropriations, approves $47,234.21 liability reconciliation; motion to table Minnis Road fire‑facility aid
Summary
Commissioners adopted a corrected copy of Resolution 2025‑23 (FY2025–26 appropriations) and approved a Finance Committee recommendation to reconcile $47,234.21 from the liability account to fund balance. A committee request to fund site work at a Minnis Road fire facility was considered; a motion to table that request failed on a 5–7 roll-call vote.

The Bradley County Commission adopted a corrected copy of Resolution 2025‑23, which contains the county’s appropriations for fiscal year 2025–26, during its Aug. 4 meeting. Commissioner Milan M. Blake presented the correction, described as fixing a typographical error; Commissioner Josh Rogers seconded the motion and the correction was approved on a roll-call vote.
During committee reports, Commissioner Blake told the commission the Finance Committee had voted to recommend reconciling liability accounts and closing $47,234.21 from the county liability account into the county fund balance as of June 30, 2025. He placed that recommendation in the form of a motion; the full commission approved the reconciliation unanimously.
Blake also reported the Building and Land Committee had considered a request to fund clearing, leveling and graveling/paving of a fire‑facility property on Minnis Road. The committee’s initial estimate had been about $150,000; Blake said the scope was later reduced to a 200‑by‑30‑foot strip, which would reduce the estimated cost. Blake reported, "The committee voted 3‑1, with 1 absent, to table the Building and Land Committee request to fund the clearing, leveling, and graveling/paving of the fire facility property located on Minnis Road." When the motion to table was brought before the full Commission, the roll‑call vote was 5 in favor and 7 opposed, and the motion to table failed.
The corrected appropriation resolution and the full fiscal-year schedule are recorded with the meeting materials. The minutes do not record a subsequent final decision on the Minnis Road funding request beyond the failed motion to table.
