The Kirksville City Council adopted two resolutions recognizing long-serving members of the finance department.
Finance Director Lacey King described Jeanne Ewing's 32 years and 10 months of service after reading Ewing's career history, noting promotions from accounting clerk to assistant to the finance director, then to risk coordinator and finance supervisor. King said Ewing "could perform every task in the finance department" and called her "like the sun in our department," praising her mentorship and institutional knowledge. The council approved the resolution and invited Ewing and family forward for a photo.
The council then approved a second resolution honoring Marsha Van Lanningham for 24 years and five months of service. King said Van Lanningham began as a customer-service clerk in 2002, welcomed thousands of residents (including Truman students) and was known for patience and kindness. The council voted to approve that resolution as well and invited the finance department to join for a photo.
Both resolutions passed by voice vote during the meeting.
