Kirksville extends Contour lease and authorizes $600,000 T-hangar rehabilitation grant application

The Kirksville City Council approved two airport items: an extension to the current lease agreement with Corporate Flight Management Inc., doing business as Contour Airlines, to reflect the carrier's move into the new terminal; and authorization for the city manager to submit a grant application to the Missouri Department of Transportation for rehabilitation of aging T-hangar units.
Airport Director Jeff Lafountain told the council Contour signed a lease on August 1, 2023, under a 36'month term and will move into the new terminal on June 24, with the first flight scheduled for June 25. The council approved an extension to accommodate the relocation and the amended rentable space and rates.
Lafountain also described plans to rehabilitate the older 1970s-era row of T-hangars. The work would replace motors and cables, update weather stripping and improve maintainability and parts availability. The project cost was presented as $600,000, with a 5% city match of $30,000; staff said those funds were budgeted and aligned with previously allocated Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds. The council authorized the submission of the grant application and the city manager to execute documents to accept funding if awarded.
Both items passed on council votes during the meeting.
