Former students and colleagues recalled Henderson’s work as an instructor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and his role in providing cultural opportunities and mentorship for emerging artists. Aqua Holmes said Henderson helped introduce a generation of students to African American artists and to Juneteenth traditions, noting that his home in Roxbury hosted annual celebrations that seeded broader city observance.
The resolution accompanies a legacy citation and a request that council members join a ceremonial photo in the chamber.
