Whitpain Township โ Members of the Whitpain Township Arts & Culture Commission discussed plans to expand community-facing programming in 2026, including Wire newsletter content, a winter photography contest and partnerships with local organizations.
Township Manager Eric Traub said the Wire's featured artist spotlight at the Community festival received a good response. Assistant Township Manager David Mrochko said he would share the past two Wire articles with student representative Harper DeWitt to provide context for the commission's outreach efforts. Member Nilza Lozado proposed a winter photography contest and volunteered to draft an article titled 'For the Love of Art' for the February Wire; she will forward the draft to Mr. Mrochko.
Chair Nicole Sheftic proposed highlighting a poet in the Wire artist spotlight but noted that the commission must publish the item as text only (no recording). Mr. Traub said he would reach out to Tiffany Bregovi, director of the Cultural Center at Montgomery County Community College, to invite her to the commission's March 25 meeting to discuss partnership opportunities. Mr. Mrochko suggested leveraging the township's 250th anniversary to bring people together and recommended combining Parks and Open Space Board nature walks with photography activities. Member Heather Dougherty proposed a summer and a fall dance class or similar activity at Prophecy; Mr. Traub said he would check venue availability with Mr. Richino and report back to the commission.
