The City of Broken Bow council opened and closed a public hearing June 28 before approving Resolution 2022-8 to solicit sealed bids for city-owned property at 631 South 9th Avenue.
City Administrator Dan Knoell explained the lot had been declared an abated, unsafe nuisance, torn down in October 2021 and became city property. Mayor Rod Sonnichsen told the council "this property could be developed into something better," and the council moved to accept sealed bids for the combined Lots Five and Six, Block Twelve of J.P. Gandy's Addition.
Resolution 2022-8 sets bidding and timeline requirements: sealed bids must be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on July 22, 2022; bids will be opened at the City Council meeting on July 26, 2022. The resolution’s notice in the minutes describes the property value as "over $37,000." The motion to approve the resolution passed on a roll-call vote recorded in the minutes as Voting Aye: David Schmidt, Larry Miller, Chris Myers and David Baltz.
What’s next: Interested bidders should contact the City Clerk for submission requirements and any listed terms in the solicitation.
