Merced Union High trustees approve LCAP, 2026–27 budget and a string of district resolutions

The board moved to adopt the LCAP for 2026–27 and approved the superintendent’s recommended plan designed to align district goals and state priorities. Superintendent Peterson and staff emphasized that the local indicators tied to the LCAP had been discussed previously and reported as “met” in areas such as curriculum access, implementation of academic standards, parent engagement and school climate.
At a required public hearing the board adopted Resolution 20-25 for the Education Protection Account after Dr. Wymer said the district’s expected EPA amount for next year is $33,475,156 and that those funds are designated for classroom instruction and teacher salaries. The board opened and closed the required hearing before voting to adopt the resolution.
The board also approved the proposed 2026–27 budget and a positive certification. Dr. Wymer told trustees the state budget negotiations were ongoing and that anticipated one-time funds would likely trigger a 45-day budget update this summer.
Other approved actions included resolutions related to consolidating the November 3, 2026 election for three trustee areas; migration and revision of board policies to the California School Boards Association platform; acceptance of multiple community donations; approval of a procurement for CTE computer equipment for an El Capitan High School lab (the transcript lists the purchase amount as “134,8185”); adoption of Resolution 22-25 to support a five-year facility master plan required for a Career Technical Education Facilities Program application; approval of 2026–27 salary schedules and the annual declaration of need for fully qualified educators.
