Michelle, who led the curriculum review, told the board that 4K teachers evaluated several resources and unanimously selected Every Child Ready for its alignment to the science of reading, play-based center design and developmentally appropriate units.
The quoted price in the presentation was $44,200 for materials to support 13 classrooms (ten in-district and three community partner sites) plus a $4,000 fee for one full day of teacher training, for a total first-year cost of $48,200. The curriculum package includes 11 units and 147 picture books and is intended to provide consistent materials, digital access and classroom posters/cards across sites. Teachers plan a summer training day and a parent preview night prior to rollout.
Michelle said the resource requires minimal consumables and is intended to be durable across multiple years; the district will order materials pending board approval at the next meeting.
