District nurse reports high health-room use, vaccination compliance rules and Project Adam training progress

Noel Mangi, the district nurse, presented end-of-year health data and safety work to the Mukwonago School District board.
Mangi said elementary schools are seeing approximately 10–14% of students each day visiting health rooms. The district can categorize visit types (injury, sickness, routine medication, etc.) and will continue to examine trends; some sites have successfully reduced nonclinical visits by implementing classroom-level band-aid supplies and pre-send checks. On vaccination compliance, Mangi reminded the board that Wisconsin requires districts to report vaccination status on the 40th day; a 99% compliance threshold (vaccinations plus signed waivers) is the standard to avoid exclusion.
Mangi also updated the board on Project Adam (a national cardiac-response certification program in memory of Adam Lammal). Four district schools are certified; the district runs drills and aims to have every building run at least one drill and seek certification next year. The board discussed training cadence and the plan to bring back the American Heart Association for ongoing CPR trainings to expand staff certification.
Board members asked whether the district tracks types of visits and how many staff are CPR/first-aid certified; Mangi said coaches and PE teachers largely hold CPR certification and that the district will provide more training as demand grows.
