San Marcos council adopts 2027 Regional Transportation Improvement Program

The San Marcos City Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026‑9612, approving the city’s 2027 Regional Transportation Improvement Program for fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
City Manager Michelle Bender explained the RTIP is a five‑year programming document that lists regionally significant and capacity‑increasing transportation projects and ensures consistency with the city’s capital improvement program. Staff noted the package will be subject to Sandag board adoption and possible amendments during the five‑year cycle.
Staff told the council TransNet or similar regional funds account for roughly $2.2 million annually in the city’s proposed RTIP program summary and that the RTIP hearing was advertised and materials were made available to the public. No public speakers addressed this item and the council voted to adopt the resolution by unanimous voice vote (Council Members Leblang, Musgrove, Nunes and Deputy Mayor Sella voting yes; Mayor Jones absent).
