Rock County honors late Supervisor Lori Pennycook with resolution and tributes

The Rock County Board of Supervisors opened its June meeting with a moment of silence and a formal resolution recognizing the service of former Supervisor Lori Pennycook, who served from 2022 to 2026 representing District 19.
The board adopted the resolution that "the Rock County Board of Supervisors duly assembled this June 2026 does hereby recognize Lori Pennycook for her dedicated service to Rock County," read aloud by a board member on behalf of Supervisor Belke. Family members and colleagues offered tributes in a series of remarks and a toast in her memory.
A family member said, "My mom's service on the county board over the last 6 years was one we tried to talk her out of ... she found purpose," and asked the board to "keep in mind those who don't have a voice" as a way to honor her legacy. A public-works employee told the board, "we knew how hard Lori fought for us ... when you make decisions going forward, stop and think for a minute about what she would have done." Board members praised Pennycook's committee service and long-standing community involvement.
Chair remarks noted the board's desire to give the family time and requested that the board not act on appointments to Pennycook's committees or her vacant seat until at least July. The board then moved on to regular business.
The resolution and the remarks concluded the memorial portion of the agenda; the meeting proceeded with introductions of new resolutions and other business.
