Evansville police department recognizes five employees for service and program contributions

Police Chief Mike Thompson introduced the recognition, calling attention to Corporal Haw (joined 2020; evidence custodian and use-of-force instructor), Officer Luther Blankenship (joined 2020; community-programs leader), Officer McFall (joined 2020; emergency-vehicle operation instructor), Corporal Cassidy (10 years; firearms instructor) and Community Service Officer Nester (joined 2020; animal-control and trap/neuter/release program contributor). The chief credited their work with reductions in serious crime and improved community services, and he acknowledged families who support department members.
Council members and the mayor thanked the officers for their service and acknowledged the unique challenges and stresses of police work.
The recognitions were ceremonial; no formal council action or funding decision was recorded with the honors.
