Council hears public‑works update: crusher arrival, Highway 95 milling, water and pump repairs

Public Foreman Bill told the council the town will crush asphalt and concrete removed during recent street work into reusable road millings and expected the crusher to arrive in the coming weeks, with mid‑September suggested as a likely timeframe for major crushing operations. He said the material will include a mix of asphalt and concrete and could produce a sizable pile suitable for reuse on town roads; if surplus exists, staff said the town may sell leftover material to private citizens.

Bill noted that Wyoming crews will mill and overlay the first seven miles of Highway 95 out of Glenrock toward Rolling Hills, and that coordination with that work will increase the supply of road millings for town use. He said a new meter pit will be installed on Grove Street and that mosquito spraying and park sprinklers are ongoing. Residents will see a DEQ lead‑and‑copper survey included with water bills.

On utilities, staff discussed an acid‑pump problem that temporarily affected local treatment operations; the pump controller appears to be the issue and staff planned further testing and possible replacement. Bill said crews hoped to have the pump running for a 24‑hour test period and would update the council when reliable operation was confirmed.

Police Chief Cer Feldon reported the department recently completed leadership training, is drafting an SRO agreement with the school district, is planning active‑threat training the week school begins and has a new investigator handling felony work that has reduced patrol burdens.

Next steps: staff will notify the council when crusher timing and surplus availability are firm, refresh utility locates before sign installation or ground disturbance and report back on pump testing results.
