Commissioners approve $78,459 in CRF matches for road safety and grant work

The Goshen County Board on Jan. 6 approved three County Road Fund (CRF) agreements to cover local matching requirements for state and federal road safety grants.
Road & Bridge Superintendent Chris Stoddard presented CRF 2501, a $32,759 match (20%) for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) dust-suppression project covering 22.45 miles of county roads to buy dust suppressant and gravel/fill; CRF 2502, $5,700 to provide a 9.51% match for a Wyoming Rural Road Safety Program/High Risk Rural Road Program grant to install advanced warning signs and delineators; and CRF 2503, $40,000 to fund grant-research and application preparation work.
Commissioner Justin Burkart moved to adopt each CRF agreement; the motions were seconded and recorded as passed in the meeting minutes. County Surveyor Bob Taylor provided additional detail during the discussion; Commissioner Aaron Walsh later moved to accept the full Road & Bridge report.
The agreements authorize staff to use CRF balances for the required matches; CRF 2503 is intended to improve the county’s capacity to secure future large grants by funding engineering and application support.
