"Megan Moore who's going to be here on the 18th and 19th . . . she is from Logan Simpson," the Chair said, describing the consultant engagement.
Commissioners reviewed a communications-plan template intended to guide public outreach, identify target audiences and communications channels, and collect community contacts. They agreed members should populate audience and contact lists ahead of the consultant visit so the firm can tailor meetings and public-engagement activities.
Budget constraints were part of the discussion: the Chair said the town lost about $140,000 in sales-tax revenue this year, which will affect funding options. Despite that, commissioners favored a methodical approach, suggesting the town could use reserve funds if necessary and that a phased update focusing on priority elements might be an option.
Members also discussed updating demographic statistics in the plan, noting state demographer data can be incorporated without a full plan amendment. The Chair suggested finalizing objectives and desired outcomes to guide subsequent grant and implementation efforts.
The commission tasked members with preparing inputs for the communications template and scheduled consultant engagement as the next procedural step; no final action to adopt a new plan was taken at the meeting.
