Students and staff honored at Buckeye Union Board meeting

At the May 6 meeting, the Board heard student leadership reports from Valley View Middle School and recognized Camerado Springs Middle School Employees of the Year: Classified Employee Kent Montgomery and Certificated Employee Robin Thomas.
Student leaders from Valley View Middle School reported on recent school activities including a St. Patrick’s Day ‘Shamrock’ challenge, Teacher Appreciation Week outreach (students distributed snacks and drinks), an April attendance challenge and ongoing sports seasons. They said leadership plans to continue attendance incentives next school year.
The Board also recognized Camerado Springs Middle School Employees of the Year. Assistant Principal Sara Matley highlighted Kent Montgomery’s work as yard supervisor to build inclusive student connections; Principal Doug Shupe described Robin Thomas’s 30 years of service, math instruction leadership and mentorship within the department. Superintendent David Roth presented a certificate to Robin Thomas and praised her sustained instructional impact across the District.
The recognitions were presented during the staff-presentation portion of the agenda; the Board accepted the reports and moved on to business items.
