Housing board approves small change orders and grants National Grid easement to widen sidewalk near Fonseca School

Change Order No. 1 for site improvements and tree removal at Elmer and Corbett streets (EOHLC number 09-5205) increased the contractor’s price by $4,375 to create more consistent flat parking surfaces and to meet ADA requirements, and extended the contract time by 30 days. The board also approved Change Order No. 1 for comprehensive building and site upgrades at Maple Gardens (EOHLC number 095177), increasing the contract by $90,351.11 to cover: replacing water shutoff valves; relocating electrical panels in buildings 15–17; extending electrical secondaries at building 17; exploratory abatement work at building 18; and abatement pipe insulation. A staff member (Theo) told the board the original contract amount was "just under 9 million." No contract time increase was recorded for this change order.
Under miscellaneous business, the board ratified an easement for National Grid at Oak Village to relocate one telephone pole and a pole anchor onto Oak Village property, moving the anchored pole approximately 6 feet from its original location to allow the city and school department to widen the sidewalk down to Fonseca School. The easement was recommended by staff and approved; one member (David) abstained, citing a connection to Oak Village.
