Leesburg hears first reading for Perry Smith commercial SPUD; planning staff recommended approval

Staff said the application includes typical SPUD requirements: architectural standards, dark-sky-compliant lighting, 35% open space, and a 25-foot planted buffer along non-wetland boundaries. Access is shown on the site plan and the development requires a boulevard-style entrance; planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval. No public opposition was recorded in the file, and Lake County Public Works, the school board, and city departments returned no comments.
Applicant representative Mike Rankin of Land Planning Group of Tavares was present to answer questions. The item will return for second reading and a public hearing on July 27.
