Ossining awards aqueduct contract and approves firehouse alarm-design work

Ossining — The Village of Ossining Board of Trustees voted June 3 to award a Department of Public Works contract and to authorize design work for fire-detection upgrades at multiple firehouses.
The board resolved, subject to corporation-counsel review, to award contract DPW-25-05 (Old Croin Aqueduct Phase 1 meter-vault improvements) to Everysus Construction Company Inc. for $110,350 and authorized the village manager to execute the contract documents following counsel review.
Separately, following a staff presentation and questions about specifications, the board authorized the village manager to sign a proposal from Doyle Security Systems to prepare comprehensive NFPA-compliant fire-detection design drawings for four firehouses located at 2 Lafayette Street, one Waller Avenue, 53 Central Avenue and 21 Snowden Road. The design cost was capped at $14,500 with an additional estimated $1,000 to have drawings stamped by a registered architect/engineer as required by the building inspector.
A staff speaker described the planned systems as addressable notification and detection equipment including addressable smoke and heat detectors, addressable pull stations, CO detectors, wiring and cabling, control panels, sounders/strobes and a Notifier N2100 fire panel. Trustees sought clarification on which buildings and the specific system components; staff said the design follows the recommendations from a prior building review and reflects a cost-effective alternative to full sprinkler installation.
