Chippewa Lake council approves routine measures, adopts NOPEC grant ordinance

The Village of Chippewa Lake council unanimously approved a series of routine actions on Feb. 10, 2025, including adopting Ordinance 906-25 to accept a $1,691 NOPEC Energized Community grant and authorizing the mayor to sign the grant agreement.
Council also approved the January meeting minutes, payment of $18,049.54 in February bills, the January bank reconciliation and the January appropriations report, all by 5-0 votes.
The grant actions were presented by Fiscal Officer Gary Harris, who said the village had been offered $1,691 through NOPEC’s 2025 Energized Community Grant program. Solicitor Allan Michelson read Ordinance 906-25 aloud as the first reading. Council member Barb Hunter moved to waive the second and third readings; Tamitha Sorgi seconded, and council voted 5-0 to waive. Bud Hardesty then moved to adopt Ordinance 906-25, which passed 5-0. The council subsequently voted 5-0 to authorize Mayor Joanne Dodaro to execute the NOPEC 2025 Grant Agreement.
Gary Harris also reported that the village previously received a $796.04 NOPEC sponsorship grant for carriage lights at the Community Center; $447 of those funds remain to be spent by Nov. 30, 2026, he said. Harris confirmed a separate sponsorship grant for the Lions Club’s July 4 parade has been deposited directly into the Lions Club account.
Other procedural votes included a motion by Bud Hardesty and second by Tamitha Sorgi to accept the January organizational and regular meeting minutes (approved 5-0); Bud moved and Tamitha seconded approval of the February bills totaling $18,049.54 (approved 5-0); and the council unanimously accepted the January bank reconciliation and appropriations reports after motions to approve and second them by council members.
The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn at 7:53 p.m., carried unanimously.
