Cheviot council approves rules, appointments and routine reports; schedules committee meetings on wages and firetruck

At its Jan. 6 meeting, the Cheviot City Council voted unanimously to approve amended council rules and several representative appointments and took routine votes on administrative reports.
Council President Stefanie Hawk put the modified council rules to a vote and members approved them without recorded opposition. The council approved the following appointments: Amy Richter as the Cheviot Historical Society representative; Safety Services Director Steve Braun as the OKI representative; and Mr. Hackson as the LSDMC representative (the transcript does not specify Mr. Hackson's first name).
Earlier in the meeting council approved the minutes of the Jan. 1 meeting (motion by Hugo Peterman, second by Troy Borgmann) and received and filed the Police Chief Patton's 2025 year-end report (motion by Hugo Peterman, second by Dan Morgan). The Treasurer's Report for November 2025 was approved (motion by Hugo Peterman, second by Eileen Borgmann). Mayor's Court receipts for November 2025 were noted and will be approved at the next meeting; no vote on those receipts was recorded on Jan. 6.
Council also announced committee meetings with specific agendas: Police and Fire (Troy Borgmann) will meet Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. to discuss purchasing a new firetruck; the Finance Committee (chair listed as Borgmann) will discuss wage increases for administrative employees on Feb. 3 at 8:30 p.m.; and the Zoning Committee (Chris Watt) will meet Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. to discuss sober-living houses. Additional items on this year's agenda include parking changes, a review of stray-animal feeding rules, and a full recodification of ordinances.
Other calendar notes recorded during the meeting: Congressman Warren Davidson will visit on Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m. to view the recently dedicated bell tower; a clock dedication is set for Feb. 1; and applications for the June Paint The Town event are due in February. The meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m. on a motion by Amy Richter, seconded by Hugo Peterman.
