Platteville board praises staff, summer school enrollment and library growth

Board members opened the June 10 meeting by thanking staff for the school year and noting positive community feedback about district facilities. A district staff presenter said the enrichment summer school program began Monday with more than 400 students enrolled; kindergarten and first-grade summer classes meet at Neil Wilkins while grades 2–8 meet at the middle school.
Board members also acknowledged extracurricular successes: the music department’s pops concert and recent athletic accomplishments (conference and regional championships for teams). The district announced it will introduce a new scheduling app, Bound, that will consolidate school events and calendars; how-to videos will be posted on the district website.
Paige, the district’s library/LMC presenter, provided an annual libraries summary highlighting collection growth and services. Board members praised students’ Chromebooks repair skills and noted 2,678 new books were added this year. They discussed how to distribute an informational document about library activity to the community.
Members thanked volunteer high-school students who are supporting summer enrichment activities and discussed opportunities for community workshops, including an Excel basics session on June 23 presented by business ed teacher Sammy Meyer in partnership with the Platteville Chamber of Commerce.
The board moved on to routine business after the recognitions and reports.
