Giddings council accepts FY2025 financial report after auditor issues unmodified opinion

Louis Breedlove, CPA with Brooks Watson & Co., PLLC, presented the City of Giddings' Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the year ended Sept. 30, 2025, and said the audit returned an unmodified opinion, the highest level of assurance.
The report covers the fiscal year from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025. Breedlove reviewed the audit process and highlighted the financial statements and key financial highlights in the document presented to the council.
Council Member Jacob Janda moved to adopt Resolution No. 630-2026 accepting the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the stated fiscal year; Council Member Kevin Rinn seconded the motion. The motion carried. The minutes record the vote as Ayes: Janda, Muniz, Rinn; Nays: none.
City officials did not record further changes to the report or any amendments during the meeting. The resolution formally accepts the report as presented and completes the city's audit acceptance step for the 2025 fiscal year.
The council moved on to other agenda items following the vote.
