Mayor Howard Klug responded that enforcement is complaint-driven, the City of Williston is the authority that issues parking tickets, and the ordinance is intended to address vehicles that remain in place for extended periods and interfere with snow removal, street cleaning and garbage collection. Klug said apartment complexes and commercial businesses must follow off-street parking regulations; he also noted a separate ordinance governs campers and trailers. The mayor said the City does not retaliate against those who speak during public comment and that a public comment period will be added to future commission agendas.
Pierce’s remarks and Klug’s response were recorded in the meeting minutes; no enforcement action or ordinance amendment was taken at the meeting.
