Williston authorizes negotiation of lease with JMAC Resources for industrial park land

The Williston City Commission on April 22 authorized staff to negotiate lease terms with JMAC Resources for 2.79 acres of land in Lot 2, Block 4 of the Williston Industrial Park Subdivision. City Administrator Shawn Wenko said JMAC proposed an initial 10-year lease, with options to extend up to 40 years, at $1,000 per acre payable monthly and CPI-based increases after the first decade.
Wenko said the parcel is landlocked and that the city prefers leasing rather than selling to retain control of the land because a rail spur serves nearby industries. City Engineer David Juma told the commission JMAC had been speaking with local industry partners, including AGT Foods and BNSF, as part of site planning.
Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk moved to authorize the city administrator, city attorney, the mayor and David Juma to negotiate a lease with JMAC Resources; the motion passed 5-0. The commission’s authorization directs staff to return negotiated lease terms for formal approval at a future meeting.
