Williston approves airport equipment purchase, de-icing change order and engineering task order

The Williston City Commission on April 22 awarded a $1,046,703.47 contract for a multi-function plow and broom to M-B Companies, contingent on FAA approval of 95% federal grant funding and a 2.5% State Aeronautics Commission grant. Airport Director Anthony Dudas said the grants would reduce the city’s up-front local cost to $26,267.59 after reimbursement by the grantors.
The commission also approved Change Order 1 to the de-ice apron expansion, resulting in a contract deduction of $156,717.70 following final quantity reconciliation, Dudas said. The city voted 5-0 on both actions.
In related action, the commission approved Burns & McDonnell Task Order 12 to provide on-call airport engineering services for capital improvement program development, hangar site work, pavement strength analysis and other support, on an hourly basis not to exceed $35,000 for 2025. The task order was approved by a 5-0 vote.
Dudas described the plow and broom purchase as a replacement and noted a roughly two-year build time. He said the airport plans to maintain a fleet of three machines and rotate equipment when the new unit arrives. The commission’s award is contingent on formal grant approvals from the FAA and the State Aeronautics Commission.
The commission’s airport votes were taken as part of its regular business; the award and the task order were approved unanimously. The de-ice apron change order was recorded as a contract deduction after the project’s final closeout.
