The Moultonborough Milfoil Committee reported on June 2 that a contract with Solitude for herbicide treatment has been signed and that the Board of Selectmen has approved related contracts and grants for 2026.
Karin Nelson said the committee is tentatively planning herbicide treatment for July 21, 2026, but that the date is contingent on the results of a milfoil growth survey. Nelson also reported that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) has provided a grant of up to $54,725 to cover up to 50% of the total herbicide treatment cost.
Committee members noted that the volunteer Weed Watchers program has not yet started but is expected to begin before the planned treatment date, indicating volunteer monitoring will be active prior to any application. The committee did not record a final cost estimate in the minutes; the NHDES grant amount and the 50% coverage were the only grant details provided.
