The Moultonborough Conservation Commission’s Milfoil Committee on June 2 reviewed an updated fund balance and approved a $45,000 allocation to NH Lakes to support the town’s Lake Host program.
At the meeting, Karin Nelson reported that a Capital Improvement Planning Committee review of town records revised the committee’s fund balance upward. The balance reported in December 2025 of $113,914 was adjusted to $208,138 as of Jan. 1, 2026. Because of that finding, the committee reduced its 2026 town funding request from $75,000 to $50,000; the $50,000 request was approved at the Annual Town Meeting, producing a total funds balance the committee reported as $258,138. Nelson added that costs incurred to date for herbicide permitting and Lake Host expenses total $245,041.
On the Lake Host program, Tracy Waterman said staffing at public launches has been active since Memorial Day weekend but that traffic has been very low so far. Waterman said she is training Melissa Ramsey to succeed her as the local lead for the NH Lakes program in Moultonborough. Waterman reported approximately $62,000 was spent on the program in 2025, about $40,000 was sent to NH Lakes for staff payments and roughly $28,000 remained in that account. Committee members recommended $45,000 for the program in 2026.
Amy Lindamood moved to allocate $45,000 to NH Lakes for the Lake Host program; Mike Couture seconded. The motion passed, with Tracy Waterman recorded as abstaining. The minutes of the prior meeting were approved at the start of the session.
The committee set its next meeting for July 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.; Secretary Mike Couture was asked to confirm room availability and whether a quorum will be present.
