Contractor reports progress on school construction; board approves HVAC change order

The update preceded several construction‑related votes. The board approved change order No. 1 for HVAC renovations at Foley and Southern, moved to Branson Construction, for $92,730.40 after the chair called for a motion and the board voted by voice. Members also approved final plans for the Carson Elementary HVAC renovation and discussed re‑packaging an HPC bid that reduced previously rejected costs (from more than $500,000 to about $136,000) to achieve savings.
Board members asked for timelines and confirmation that furniture, finishes and fire‑alarm work would be completed before occupancy. Facilities staff and the contractor said ceilings, paint and punch‑list items remained but that multiple projects were close to practical completion.
The board also awarded three bid packages for Madison Central High School tennis courts — Miller Maintenance Company ($317,021), Tennis Technologies ($88,530 and $76,420) — for a total of $482,971 and authorized contractors to begin work as soon as schedules allow.
The construction update and related approvals conclude with the board directing staff to monitor schedules and return to the board with any material changes to timelines or budgets.
